Well another school year is finished with us.
I hope you all learned something in your classes with me. Unfortunately I won't be around NVSS next year but I'll still be in the district. From what I understand the Physics trip to Playland will now be a district initiative so for those taking Physics 11/12 you may still have an opportunity to go next year if you didn't this year!
For those who are wondering, I will be teaching at FLESS next year and for the foreseeable future. I do hope to return to NVSS soon even though it might be too late to see some of you guys graduate, but maybe your younger siblings (if you have any) might get the honour of competing for the Arocena Cup.
Congratulations to all the teams that won the Arocena Cup over the past few years at NVSS, rest assured it will be back at NVSS ready for a new generation and your names will be on the cup until forever (I lose the computer file that has all the names of the winners)
One last thing, if any of you are interested in what I am doing over the summer, go to
http://todayinphysicsclass.wordpress.com. It's my webcomic that I started in June and I hope to keep my adventures in teaching updated on this webcomic.
Enjoy your summer everyone!
The blog for Mr. Arocena's classes. Recorded here are assignments, quizzes, tests, projects and the current scores for all teams competing for the Arocena Cup. Occasionally I'll post something else too (most likely pertaining to education)

Arocena Cup Winners
Alright so the winners of the Arocena Cup have been decided in Blocks 1 and 2.
In Block 1:
The victory goes to Team Odds thanks to Sarah & Johanna's 'low' percent error of 59% in our rocketry lab! All the % errors were a little high so I will have to revise the lab for next time.
The Odds pull off a 12-11 victory for the semester so well done! Victory ceremony will be on Wednesday along with your prize!

In Block 2:
The victory goes to Team Evens by a score of 5-7. Congratulations to you guys and girls! The victory ceremony will be on Wednesday for those who are present!

Physics 11 - Mousetrap Cars
Got around to posting the pictures of the mousetrap car competition.
Again congrats to Kat, Richard & Whitney for having the longest car at 6.95m. Congrats also go out to Justin for getting the best Evens car and thus knotting things up at 11.

Physics 11 Assignment
Today's assignment:
- Complete part 1 of the Mousetrap Car project. Remember if you don't hand in Part 1 you won't get a mousetrap which means you can't compete!
- We will work on building the cars in class tomorrow and Monday.
Also I forgot to mention that I gave team Evens another point because Kat was the only person to hand in their Nuclear Energy Research assignment on time. This brings the Evens to within 1 point of catching up with the Odds.
If the Evens can win the mousetrap car distance competition then that will force a sudden death tie breaker in our rocket project next week!
