If you want a proof of the sum identities you can find them here
Proof of sin(a+b)=cos(a)sin(b) + sin(a)cos(b)
Proof of cos(a+b)=cos(a)(cos(b) - sin(a)sin(b)

The proofs are done differently from the unit circle one I showed in class and may be clearer.

Naming Alkenes

Also, I totally missed an important thing when naming alkenes and alkynes you choose the longest carbon chain that contains the double or triple bond, with the triple bond taking precedence over the double bond.

So basically if a chain is longer but doesn't include the double bond it doesn't count. Same thing with a triple bond.
