The blog for Mr. Arocena's classes. Recorded here are assignments, quizzes, tests, projects and the current scores for all teams competing for the Arocena Cup. Occasionally I'll post something else too (most likely pertaining to education)

Chemistry 11 Assignment
This weeks assignment - Complete Review & Practice p. 475 #1-5 - Complete Calorimetry worksheet - Complete Heats of Reaction worksheet - Complete Review & Practice p. 492 #1-4, 6, 11-13
1 cup of half and half cream (you could do 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of whipping cream too) 2 tablespoons of sugar 1 teaspoon of vanilla
Mix those in a small ziploc bag.
In a larger ziploc bag put in some ice/snow and some salt. You can use anywhere from a few tablespoons of salt up to about 1/2 cup of salt. The more salt you use, the colder it will be so be careful.
Put the small bag inside the large bag and just rock it back and forth for about 20-30 minutes. Flipping it every 20-30 seconds is also recommended.
One more thing, try to push all the air out of the little bag. That should help it solidify faster.
