Science 9 Assignment
Today's assignment: - Complete the Series & Parallel circuits worksheet
Today I was shopping and I came across some Russians who were selling these click heat pouches. And they were so cool! They are a pouch of jell with a little piece of metal inside of it. The russian man clicked the device's metal innards making the device go hot and white, from its original orange and cool state. I have been searching for a couple hours and have een unable to find any information on the subject. I have come to you because I trust your knowledge and wisdom. Please don't fail me master.
The gel inside is a supersaturated solution of sodium acetate (basically water that has dissolved as much sodium acetate as possible). The metal disk is just that, a metal disk.
When the metal disk is clicked it stirs up the sodium acetate and starts an exothermic crystallization process.
The neatest part is that you can reverse the reaction by putting the pouch in boiling water which will re-dissolve the sodium acetate into it's non-crystal form.
Dearest Mr. Arocena,

Greatest thanks.

Hope that helps.
